I'm on a tablet, trying to get my information.

I have a Gateway Laptop running Windows XP media center.
It was working fine but a little slow, so I decided to do a system restore.
Now I can't get on the internet. I have a x-finity wireless Cable hookup but no router.
System says, (page cannot be displayed). Also under Lan or High-speed internet I have, (wireless network connection, connected) (1394 Connection, connected) and (Local Area Connection, Network Cable Unplugged with a Red X)
Cannot figure out what I did wrong after the factory restore.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    johngod

What's the exact SNID number and serial number on that Gateway laptop?
What is its exact model number?

Go into the Device Manager, then expand the Network Adapters heading.
What's the exact names of the devices listed there?

Is there an Other Devices or Unknown Devices heading in the Device Manager.
If there is, expand it and then advise the exact names of the devices listed there.

These are the Windows XP 32-bit drivers listed for the Gateway MX6650 laptop.

    Capture.JPG
(click image to enlarge and view)

Open the properties windows for those Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG and Marvell Yukon 88E8036 devices.
Click the "Driver" tab for each device.
What's the exact driver version and driver date for each device?
Click the "General" tab for each device.
Does it show that device as working properly?

In post #1, you said you did a system restore, but it's not clear exactly what you did.
Did you restore that laptop back to an earlier date and time?
Did you revert that laptop back to its original factory condition?

Which browser name and version number did you install to go on-line and visit websites?
If you're trying to use its built-in Internet Explorer 6 or 7 or 8, you're going to have problems because most websites no longer support it.
Mozilla Firefox 52.3.0 ESR is what I use with Windows XP 32-bit.

Is Service Pack 3(SP3) installed as part of your Windows XP Media Center Edition?
If you don't know for sure, right-click MY COMPUTER and then click Properties.
The Windows XP version and service pack number will be listed there.

So sorry, I reverted back to the factory condition.

    Intel-version 9.0.1.9--Date 10/29/2004
    Marvell-version 8.30.2.3--Date 6/6/2005

XP Version 2002. Service Pack 2

Built-in IE, I tried Yahoo, but with no internet, I can't connect.

Didn't install any, this is what I got after the factory reset.

    Says both devices working properly.

That's what I guessed you did, but I didn't know for sure.
According to your driver dates, that laptop is now in an extremely outdated condition.
This is a big part of your problem.
You need to get Service Pack 3 installed.
You also need to install a supported browser - which I linked you to in my last reply.

I strongly recommend you go HERE and make use of my Windows XP install and update guide.

Use a computer with a working internet connection to obtain the SP3 upgrade from HERE.
Download and save that file somewhere in that computer.
Copy that file to a USB thumb drive or burn it to a CD-R.
Insert it in that Gateway laptop.
    Install the SP3 upgrade.

If you don't know how to do it, ask someone who does to help you.

I downloaded sp3 and installed it on my gateway
No luck. I installed sp3 but couldn't install Firefox. I tried to download Firefox with out any luck. I double-checked my computer system property and it read Service Pack 3.

Did you obtain Mozilla Firefox from HERE?
It's the ESR version and should install and work fine in Windows XP SP3.

You're having too many problems with Windows XP, so it may be time for a clean reinstall and a fresh start.
My Windows XP install and update guide HERE will be very helpful to you.

You cannot legally download a copy of Windows XP (any version) from the internet.

You can purchase the Windows XP Media Center Edition install disc for your Gateway MX6650 laptop from HERE, but I can't guarantee you it'll work.

I have the original Gateway disk, but it's in storage and I can't get to it. Too far in front. Too much to move. I will try one more time to install Mozilla Firefox, this time the ESR version you posted. On to my flash drive than to my pc. I don't think I downloaded it from you last time.
