Gator????

Hi all,
I was on my computer today when my zone alarm alerted me that gator was trying to access the web. Now I heard about gator from here, so naturally I clicked no. Next thin I know, gator is installed on my comp and running. I went to control panel, and uninstalled gator from there. I then ran ad aware and deleted all I found on that. Is there anything else I need to do? I dont want this program on my comp.

Ad-aware should be sufficient to clean the machine. Do you know what recent install Gator may have come in?

I have no idea how it got installed. I was surfing the net and wham it popped up, the last thing I tried to download was tweakU. I did the adaware, and then went and checked my startup listing and there was something for Gatorinfo in there. I unchecked it so it wont run on startup, so hopefully that took care of that.

Hmm. In internet options > advanced, do you have "install on demand" checked or unchecked?

To get rid of that clutter in msconfig>startup, run regedit and navigate to

HKey_Local_Machine
Software
Microsoft
Windows
CurrentVersion

Hightlight the RUN- key and right click and delete anything you have unchecked in msconfig and don't want to see any more of.
