I'll keep things short as I'm not sure how much longer my internet will stay connected.

Basically my internet has been slow as hell for the last 6 months or so, if I try to play anything on xbox live it rarely finds a game for me to play, and even if it does the connection is so bad it's practically unplayable. It even got to the point where I couldn't play youtube videos without letting it buffer for about 10 minutes.

Anyway, phoned up my ISP (Virgin media) and they said there were repairs being done or something and after a week or two the internet connection improved to a decent level. One week later though and now it is disconnecting all the time. My laptop says that I'm connected but if I can't load any pages or sign into any IM programs. It will be like this for about 10 minutes normally, then work for a minute or so and then go back to not working. My housemates laptop does the same thing, so I know it's not my laptop that's the problem. But the other strange thing is that I am still signed into xbox live while the internet is not working on my laptop.

Oh, and my internet is wireless and 2mb speed.

    Thanks for any/all possible help.

I am not sure what you are expecting out of a 2MB connection and running 3 computers.

I'm not expecting perfect internet, but it would be nice for it to actually stay connected?

What is your signal strength like when you are connected to the wireless? What is the make and model of your router or wireless access point? You could try a different wireless channel on the router than the default one.

So, this is Virgin Media mobile service?

What is the brand and model of your modem? Do you get the same service interruptions when you take the Netgear router out of the picture?
