General protection error

If any one can help me with some clues as to what this means or how I can keep it from happening I copied it and pasted it here:
DDHELP caused a general protection fault
in module GDI.EXE at 0001:00001bef.

I am not sure why but somewhere while browsing the window saying error will pop up and when I close the window, hit ok, the browser closes and I have to go through the sign in process again.
