Hiya. I lost my xp cd for my computer a long time ago and have been using a different copy of windows that is not genuine. My dad got a genuine copy and I want to use it to reformat my computer. What will happen if I use the same copy on my computer that he's using on his? I dont want to screw up his window registration key so that his windows isn't genuine either, but I cant afford a genuine copy of windows.

Welcome to TSG....

With all of these illegal versions of Windows it is not possible according to the forum rules to help you in this problem except to have you purchase a legal version of Windows XP Home or Pro.

Here is a link to the rules

No need to welcome me. If people can't answer questions here, it's useless to return.

Windows can only be installed on one computer

you cannot use the same install key on multiple computers

as the rules state this is now closed

The question WAS answered....and until you have a legal version of Windows, PLEASE, by ALL MEANS, DO NOT return ;)
