Getting a New Sound Card

    If your current sound card is in a PCI slot rather than onboard the Creative one will fit, if your current sound card is onboard you just need to disable it (in Device Manager) when you fit the PCI card.

    I'd also hasten to point out, that when I had crackling issues with a computer a while back, it was a PCI bus latency issue, and a new sound card didn't fix it. :)

    MP3's will also completely stop playing and pause for 5 seconds when, for example, my browser loads.

    sounds like your system is running out of memory, your sound card (or onboard sound controller) is probably fine

    if thats the case then a new sound card may not help. Sounds like a resource or driver issue.
