Hi friendly experts, try this one for size...shouldn't be that tough...

I need my volume control icon back in the lower right tray...it got blown out (missing not corrupted I don't think) with a PC crash last night.

SO FAR I figure it should be c:\windows\system32\dllcache and then either or both SNDVOL32.EXE...or SNDREC32.exe...after a lot of tweeking I can manually get sound out of the USB headsets I use :)...next is to make it automatic and resident in the tray at bootup...get back to "normal"...

WHAT and WHERE should I do it? Is it good enough to stick these executables somewhere where they used to be?

The icon I am looking for is the grey speaker cone facing to the right...

Thanks!!!

Control Panel - Sounds and Audio Devices - Volume tab - check the box "Place Volume control Icon in tray"
