I have a floppy that is a little old and beat up. When I try to open some of the word files I get an error message and am instructed to open it through the open menu. That does not work either. When I try to copy the files a get a message saying there is an error in information. HELP!! Is there any way to retrieve this data???

Have you tried copying the files off the floppy before attempting to open them?

What version of Word were they created with and what version of Word are you using?

Well, there may be some damaged info on the disks.

You can use a utility like Norton Disc Doctor if you have access to that, and it can scan the floppy disk and repair some kinds of damage.

Back in '97 I had a similar problem. I bought Norton 3.1 at the time and it fixed it right up! The files i was trying to recover was my resume and i didn't want to go thru the time to reformat my resume document again.
