I am running Windows NT 4.0 and am getting Error Message : Unable to locate File CMEII or one of it's components at Windows start-up

I inadvertantly said yes to installing Gator and then tried to uninstall it. All went well except I am now getting this message at startup

Any ideas on how to get rid of it? It is very annoying!!

I deleted the CMEII directory and all it's components but I don't know how or from where the system is asking to run that file.

    Thanks

Hi Racy54, Download and run Spybot-S&D, it will remove it.

Download Spybot - Search & Destroy

    http://beam.to/spybotsd

After installing, go to the Online tab, and search for and install all updates.

Next, go to the Settings tab > File Sets, and uncheck 'System Internals' and 'Tracks' .
These aren't needed for our present purpose, and you can always experiment with them later on.

Finally, after closing down Internet Explorer, hit 'Check for Problems', and have SpyBot remove all it finds.

NOTE: SSD will sometimes not be able to remove all active components in the first 'run'.
In that case you will get a dialog asking you to run SSD at next start.
    Click yes and reboot.

    Good idea! :)

And here's to get rid of your error message at startyp:

Go to Start > Run, type Msconfig, and uncheckl CMEsys on the Startup tab.

    Click OK, and reboot.

But you need to run an updated SpyBot to actually remove it.

I ran spybot and it cleaned up a number of items but I cannot get rid of the error message at start-up.

I cannot select start, run and type msconfig.

It tells me there is no such file -- Cannot find mscong or one of its components.....

    Any ideas

    Thanks Again

    Ted
