I have a Dell 4100 and when I try to start up, it tells me to insert boot diskette A. This is not usually how it starts. Can anyone tell me how to bypass this?

since it is prompting for a boot disk, it looks like that it has lost the path to the boot hd. are you able to get booted at all? if not then you might need to get a new hd or at least do a scandisk to see if there are any problems. if your hd came with diagnostic tools, try them.
