Hi,

I need to get rid of winxp completely and install win 98
on my computer.

Could someone please tell me how to step by step.

I really am having trouble getting rid of xp. in add and remove
there is no rembo or anything like that. I believe when the xp was installed. Everything else was deleted and it is the only os on the system.

Thanks Freya

if you chose to upgrade to xp but didnt save the 98 o/s files the only way is to re-format and re-install.
but what problems are you having with xp?it may be better to solve those.

welcome to T.S.G. btw;)

Thanks For your replies...

I have a win98 boot disk. I have a ms dos 6. boot disk...

However, I can not get the comp to stop booting up into xp. When I am in xp it will not let me remove/uninstall it.

I changed my settings in my bios to boot from floppy, all that happens is I get message, asking if I want to boot in windows safe mode, with networking etc.

I really want xp off.. and do not want to bother with all the hardware/ net ware problems it is giving me.. I just want my 98 back...:)

Any Ideas.. on how I can just get a Dos boot and then I will run fdisk reformat and reinstall 98.. Just can't get to a plain command prompt.

Thanks Again

Are you sure you have it set to boot from the floppy disk first. If so, are you sure the floppy is working?

Using a Windows 98 Startup diskette or MS-DOS diskette boot the PC with it and type: FDISK /MBR

It will rebuild the boot files.
