Ghost COM Port?

    We've been having some trouble with our modem so I thought I'd look at the installation. When we tested the modem it said that it was installed on COM 3. When we went to check COM 3 in device mgr we discovered that it didn't exist! :eek:

    The modem does work so how is this possible :confused:

    Internal PCI modems use "virtual" com ports, so thats sounds OK.

    Yep virtual com ports, gotta love them.

    Software modems don't actually have any real hardware interupt, they just pretend they do so the old protocals work.
