Can't build my own, but I found I an online company that does and this is what they suggested for me. Can you critique this for me? I want a really good laptop that I don't have to worry about replacing in a year or two. I like games, but not CRAZY over them. Mostly using it for business, school & graphics. Want to keep price around $3k.

    Thanks for your time...

I liked the prices ok, but you cannot configure a system without Vista and I don't want that OS. I use XP on my Dell and like it fine - I've heard nothing but nightmares about V. Do you know if they would still put XP on? Thanks for answering...I didn't think anyone would. I see you have an HP - You like them? I really don't like my Dell - very buggy.

Agreed ... What a way to ruin a good computer.
I've read that if you get Vista Business or Ultimate ....
M$ (or the OEM) will send you an Upgrade to XP Pro .. for free .. excessive shipping charges apply.
You might Call HP Shopping (1-888-999-4747) and verify this.

All I've ever had is HP, since the 98 days .. and I like them.
Thanks to Vista .. It may be awhile till I CTO a new one.

I don't think I'd be paying anywhere near $3000 for a laptop. The video card is the only thing in that unit that is 'special' but not worth $1500 over what similar Acer laptops could run you. I'd be shopping around a lot more. XP is still available on many models.
