    Hi,

all of a sudden when I open gmail a Large Red "M" appears and it takes ages to load gmail.

Before this was a quick load.

Is it possible to revert to the old format? I use W10

open Gmail, click on settings ( the gear icon at top right) and select go back to classic Gmail.

But!!! I don't know how long that will work for because Google is trying to force persuade everybody to change

Unfortunately there is no "go back to classic Gmail" in the gear wheel here.

Is there another way to get buck to classic view?

No. They removed the option to go back to classis.

I too have been forced to the new version. It loads slower so I've chosen Basic html version which seems to load quicker.

Things change, and it seems to do so right when you're comfortable with it.
    People resist change.

I have to think they're paying those Google techs for something, not just playing Candy Crush when the boss isn't looking.
And somehow they think it's "better."
    New and Improved!

I could go on, but that's more suited to another thread...
If you use Google, you're at the mercy, beck and call of the whims.
I know this is not very helpful, but it is what it is.

My gmail loads slower, but only 2 to 3 seconds.

What annoys me is some emails now, do not get the on-off option for images. Mostly Newegg.

You have no choice,it will be going to the new version and you will not be able to use the old version,I call that forced on us.I use the calendar lab app but it's not available in the new version. Not an improvement for me but a backwards step.My only choice is to change email service but that's really not practical at the moment.

The new version opened up for me this morning ,I tried it,saw I couldn't get the calendar app to appear so I switched back but that's only temporary.

Sucks for me but Google doesn't care. The option to stay using the old version would be the right way to go.

I don't like it either but haven't been forced yet. I rarely visit the web mail. Why not just import them into an email client? I import them to Outlook 2010 and they load very quickly.

    Thanx all,

mine now opens to a big M & stops, I have to load it manually taking ages to get to inbox.

Once there it shows email of June & my emails now are all over the place, absolute shambles.

I am off to Firefoxi which I do not like either.

Cooki, how do I go about this transferring to Outlook which I do not have?

You'd have to purchase an install Microsoft Office. But you could use a free client like Mozilla hunderbird.

It loads just as fast for me as it did before. Weird.

Did you clear browser cache? Running the latest version of the browser?

Here's something weird/scary about the new Gmail - I received an email from a friend asking me if I had seen a particular movie.
At the bottom of the msg there is now what looks to be offering choices on how to answer that question!!

It says "No, I haven't seen it" and "No, I haven't" and "Yes, I did see it" all appearing to be clickable so as to give an automatic response!

THAT seems a bit too intrusive to me, how'd they know I was asked a question other than the use of a question mark?
And the choices seems like they read, or was aware of, the exact nature of the query sent...
What if I was asked if I had read a certain book? Would the auto choice have reflected that and said "yes, I've read it" etc.?

It's all a bit too creepy to me, so i may go back to my ISP's default email, even though it's slow and a hassle.
At least they don't try to anticipate my reaction to an innocent question...

Good grief they've gone too far.

What default email is that?, if it is the GM's classic view forget we all lost it for ever.

I am reading Stephen Hawking's "my brief history", have you read it? .................................. I am waiting for your auto answering !

Now I have something weird happening, there is no "Send" here, it may have sent it on its own?
