This seems so simple, yet extensive online searching does not present a solution: I just want to be able to enter text in a table row/column, then place the cursor outside the table and enter text. Google docs tables will occupy a page, and once inside, you can't move your cursor outside the table! Also, let's say you have a table with lots of empty space in the last cell. If you delete the space (by backspacing or dragging the border of cell), the text or table or object below the current table immediately moves up to fill that space. It's a little maddening. Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

Someone suggested online to just use "convert table to text," but Google responded by saying it is "not a function at this time." This was a post from June 201, so it's current.

It's kind of hard to tell exactly what you're seeing, but I created a table in Google Docs and clicked outside the table and can type text. I can delete columns, resize columns. It seems to work pretty well. Google Docs works with Chrome, Firefox, IE 11, Edge, and Safari. Are you using something else?

Hi, thanks for your response. I actually created the table is MS Word 2016, then copy-pasted it over. The formatting is a touch different on the paste, so maybe that's it? "What I see" is that I can't do a page break and drop a row down to the next page. And, I can't move the cursor out of the table to above or below the table. I'm thinking it may just be a formatting funkiness between Word and GD.........
