How can I get rid of the list of searches I've made when I go onto Google? My Husband has discovered my surprise birthday present for him as it appeared in the list!!!

If all you want to do is make it unlikely (as opposed to impossible) for anyone to 'stumble upon' tell-tale signs of where you have been, the clearing the 'history' is quite straightforward, but the specific steps depend on the browser

Which browser are you using?

These are some common ones:

Firefox
Tools \ Options \ Privacy \ Private Data ==> several options, incl. 'Private Data \ Clear Now'

Internet Explorer
Tools \ Delete Browsing History \ Delete History ==> (several options)

Opera
Tools \ Delete Private Data \ Details ==> (several options)

NB If you want/need more thorough secrecy, clearing the history is by no means enough

Thanks for the quick reply!I don't mean the browsing history,I mean the list that intermittently appears immediately beneath where I write in what I want to search for.Sometimes it appears and sometimes it doesn't.I'm on IE7,Windows XP.Thanks for your help.

You're welcome

Tools \ Internet Options \ Content \ Auto Complete [Settings] \ Use Auto Complete For ( UNTICK 'Forms') \ OK \ OK

Should take effect immediately
