    I recently uninstalled the google toolbar so that I could upgrade to google toolbar 2.0.
    The download completed and each time I open IE version 6.0.28, it crashes. I get a close or ignore button....

    If I close ignore repeatedly, the browser will open, then if i try to click on anything else, it crashes.

    I went to control panel and uninstalled it and IE works again.

    Google Toolbar worked fine before>>>>>

    Im using Windows 98 and the new version of aol9.0

    Any ideas????

    google tool bar is pretty cool

    List the files you have in c:\windows\downloaded programs files.

    Check the properties of each one until you find the one with a codebase that says google toolbar, then delete it. Then uninstall google toolbar.

    Then reinstall it.

    Make sure you have 3rd party browser extensions enabled in IE under (internet options- advanced).

    You can ucheck that box to disable the tool bar also.

    Also manually delete c:\windows\googletoolbar.dll before you reinstall

    Also you check to see if the following keys are in the registry.

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{2318C2B1-4965-11d4-9B18-009027A5CD4F}
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{00EF2092-6AC5-47c0-BD25-CF2D5D657FEB}
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{00EF2092-6AC5-47c0-BD25-CF2D5D657FEB}
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7}
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{2318C2B1-4965-11d4-9B18-009027A5CD4F}
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7}
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Google
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Code Store Database\Distribution Units\{8EDAD21C-3584-4E66-A8AB-EB0E5584767D}\DownloadInformation

    You can also manually delete the google folder in c:\windows\application data

    Delete all your cookies.

    Manually delete the following keys
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MenuExt\&Google Search

    Also check that that classid entry is in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar

    You can manually uninstall the toolbar by
    start
    run
    regsvr32 /u /s "c:\windows\googletoolbar.dll"

    You will also want to check your computer for spyware with spybot, adaware and hijackthis.

    Restart the computer if you havent'. If you have, restart it again.

    Backup any registry keys before you delete them.

    go to http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ , and download 'Hijack This!'.
    Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

    When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
    Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

    It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even

    required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
    Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

    My Google toolbar updated itself.

    I wanst pleased at first that it did it without my say so, but I am happy now as the pop up blocker is excellent.
