    Hi all

I have got a hp dx2250 and have just bought a Asus Radeon HD5450 1GB PCI-Express Graphics Card and it turns on but no display and the fan goes mad. I have now replaced the power supply from a 250w to a 400w and still does the same. Have you got any ideas please as I am lost now.

    Thanks

    Ross

According to the system board information here, it has 2 PCI slots, 1 PCI-E x1 slot, and 1 PCI-E x2 slot.

What PCI-E connection does that video card have?

Most video cards out there are PCI-E x16.

You say you're getting no display, so I'm assuming you can't even get into the BIOS setup screen to check the video adapter setting.

That's an old desktop, so you may have too much video card for it.

I'm not an expert in this area, so I'll pass to someone else who hopefully can assist you.

I'm wondering if you would've been more successful with installing a video card with 256 MB or 512 MB of video memory and with a heatsink instead of a cooling fan.

I've upgraded several older desktops with integrated graphics to a video card, and those are the models that I've been most successful with.
