    Information
    I AM A: Power User/Programmer/Computer Geek
OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2
I AM USING: WindowBlinds w/[Arrow Style] Theme to get the Windows Vista look and feel
I AM ALSO: VERY ANNOYED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM!!

    Background
Windows XP Professional supposed to be a new generation right?? Microsoft (R) DOESN'T GET THE PICTURE, **WE WANT CALAITY** [THAT'S WHY THEY ARE MAKING Windows Vista (TM) ].

    Problem
NOTE: I should know how to fix this problem but I'M VERY SICK AND CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT!!

In the desktop properties [deskop Right Click>Properties>Desktop] you can change the color that the TEXT is on for you icons, why can't you specify "NONE".

My Desktop Icons look like this currently.....

I want it to look like they used to look a week or two ago......

[CUOGH CUOGH] I hope someone can solve this, seems like I get one problem after another. I'm also VERY SICK!!

    Thanks,
    Michael - 0vermind

What I'm wondering is why those two pics are different as thumbnails, but when I open them in another window they are the same?

But I think the answer to your question is System Properties > Advanced > Performance > Advanced > use "drop shadows" for desktop icons.

Also if you want to get rid of those shortcut arrows, install TweakUI

Refering to Swiper's picture - put a tick in the empty box and your problem should go away.

I think this was also suggested in The KiD's link above so maybe this is not it??

    **SIGH** [STILL CONFUSED] What checkbox???
UNLESS YOUR REFFERING TO "DropShadows on Desktop Icons". <-- If you are it didn't work and is not intended to work there are no shadows the problem is the green box (that can be changed to numerous different colors)!!

I'm not familiar with Windows Blinds -- is it possible that program is overriding your Windows settings with its own customized theme?

it didn't used to be this way the picutre of how I want my desktop to be is still when I had WindowBlinds!!

I see your point about the Drop Shadows it works on my friend's computer but not mine cause thats not exactly the problem.

    Here's what happneds:

    1. Startup my computer
    2. Logon to Windows [TYPE IN MY PASSWORD]
    3. Desktop wallpaper changes to pure black
    4. Desktop wall paper changes to my VISTA WALLPAPER
    5. I see these black boxes (ONCE GREEN AT THE START OF THIS PROBLEM)
    6. I get annoyed by the BLACK/GREEN BOXES

Now how do I make my computer STOP CHANGING IT TO BLACK CAUSE I THINK THAT IS THE PROBLEM!!!
