I have a 233 mhz PII MMX Pro, 6.4 Gb. HD, with 128 mb of ram. I would like add an additional 20 Gb. harddrive to it. Once that HD filled up would there be enough resources to run the additional softwares? I do mostly digital photo minipulation. I would like to upgrade to Windows XP for starters.

233 PII might not meet the minimun requirements for Xp. It if does, it should be ok... but for graphics (whether you run Xp or what you currently have) you should have a bare minimun of 256 mb ram. Most people doing graphics will prefer at least 512 mb. As for the new HD, it will create some extra reasources, but don't rely on that for virtual memory. Writing and rewriting back and forth to the HD for that stuff is incredibly slow. That is half the purpose for random access memory.
