Saw a few baldies at a farm not far from our place today. When I first arrived there must have been 100 on the ground with a bunch in the air and surrounding trees. I've never seen that many at one time around here before. It wasn't long after I arrived they all flew well of in the distance.

And a Morning Dove which is quite rare around here.

It was an awesome sight and one I've seen before. Actually saw it again today at a different location. I haven't
reviewed the shots yet so lets see what happens over the next day or so.

The dove and baldie were nowhere near each other.

I'm old enough to remember the Lockheed Constellation and when I saw this
1997 Airbus A319-114 landing at YVR on Saturday because of the paint it instantly
reminded me of watching those wonderful aircraft back in the 50's.
My father would take me to YWG and together we would " spot " all day long. It also
made me think of TWA and their paint scheme. Regardless of how close it is sparking
those childhood memories is pure magic.

Ah, the blue herons, the limousines of the sky, so smoothly graceful in flight, but on land they seem to have a telescopic vision that rivals Superman!
So never could get close enough to herons (or egrets) for a decent shot, much less a nest!
    Good stuff Guy!

    Thanks RT....

    Here's another amazing creature.

This was the most cooperative hummingbirds I've ever seen and I have them visiting my feeders right in front of my home. These are rarely seen in our area if it's what I think it is. . Despite about 100 shots I wasn't able to get it displaying it fanning out it's throat feathers but I think it's a Callioup Hummingbird because of that activity. I shall try again......

This one was observed at it's favorite perch at Pitt Meadows airport and allowed me to get within a few feet of it which is something a Rufus or Anna's hummingbird doesn't normally allow me to do.

It was extremely windy so some aren't as sharp as I'd like...............

EDIT: Rats.... foiled again. I found out it is an Anna's Hummingbird.

    Nice!

We've got several Blue Herons in my area but your photos are the first time I've seen their nests.

Came across my favorite bird of all time sitting on a nest and it's mate guarding her / it.
Out of concern for the birds I kept my distance so they wouldn't be disturbed. Because I stayed
away I wasn't blessed with the broken wing gag and I'm ok with that.

'Tis a ploy I've seen many times and fascinating to watch...effective too! Misdirection at it's best...had killdeer on the gravel roads that were on parts of the property where I worked, and everyone sort of steered clear of the nest....if you could even spot the well camouflaged eggs!
