i wonder if i can get any ideas. i have win xp home edition. i have a laptop with 256 meg ram. on startup windows xp loads. after the screen is visible i have 1 icon (representing active sync) loaded and showing. then i have to wait about 3 more minutes until the the next 3 show up. until they do my computer will not work. kinda froze. the next 3 to show r "local Area connection, a network cable is unpluged" - Norton antivirus auto-protect enabled"-propel accelerator:enabled average speed up 2.0" so after these show then my laptop works well. but i know something is not working properly. i wonder if i can get your help?

    thanks

You can use msconfig to troubleshoot which programs are causing the problem (and I'm sure that's what it is). Go to Start, Run, and type in msconfig. Under the General tab select Diagnostic Startup and see if it doesn't boot properly. If it does, then you know one or more programs is the culprit. It's a matter of trial and error then to determine which one(s).
