Hey folks, I'm with Poochee's original post, the fotry of July - that's great my friend!!
It is a forty day event in the US ;) (not really) ...well I can only celebrate for a day 'r two...and It's suddenly summer time - hot and humid in the South - but I was fortunate enough to see the fireworks show from my neighbors...they had a good one this year, juist sat on the deck siipping an adult beverage... and there were lights and sounds in the sky :)

Many of the lights and sounds in the skies around here were courtesy of Mother Nature.

Unfortunately, on the morning of the 4th, I was awakened to a noise. In my sleep, I thought it was thunder. That is, until I heard the sound of spinning tires. That sparked my curiosity. I got up and looked out the front window. I remember wondering who that was backing out of my driveway, until I realized that they were backing out of my front yard! And dragging the chain link fence along with him. The sound of the spinning tires I heard was him trying to get his car free of the fence. They tore the entire 50' length off the front yard! By the time I threw some clothes on and got outside, they were gone. My neighbor across the street was just heading off to try to find the car, but it was too late. He drove around for about :15, but found nothing.

The cops showed up about :20 after I called them. Somewhat surprising for a non-emergency at 6:00 a.m. on a holiday. He created a report, but he seemed like he was just going through the motions, I got the feeling he'd rather be checking out a donut shop!

My brother-in-law says he's gonna repair the fence (much of it got stretched out of shape and is not reusable). The worst part, though, is the poor Japanese Maple tree he ran over! I stood it back up, but it was broken at the base. Time will tell ...
