i just formatted my harddisk and now i am unable to install windows xp professional. Each attempt ends in failure: harddisk not detected. meanwhile i succeed to install vista which i don't like because of so many complications. how may I install XP professional? Thank you.

    First Name:
If Vista is detecting the hard drive and XP is not then it is likely due to the the Windows installation needing you to provide the required SATA/ACHI/RAID drivers at teh F6 prompt of the Windows installation. You'd have to make a floppy disk with the required drivers on it to provide for the installation.

You can try turning of RAID or ACHI in the BIOS and set the SATA controller to IDE mode.

If you want to go the F6 route then you'll need to provide us with the details of the system that you are trying to install XP on.
