I have a Sabrent USB 2.0 to IDE/SATA Hard Drive Converter. I plug the usb cable into the computer and where are the files? The computer reads the hard drive because I go to Safely remove hardware and it's there. I have tried this with 2 hard drives. Any ideas?

    :(

Are the hard drives you are trying to read known to be in good condition?

Is the Adapter power supply working? Can you hear the hard drives spinning up?

Yes,they are in good condition (at least one has to be) and the adapter power supply is working. The hard drives spinning, I have never heard of a hard drive spinning (maybe they do). Will it be a vibration? :) Thanks for replying

Yes, all hard drives spin at anything from 5000rpm upwards, when the power first goes on they usually kick just a bit. If you have your hand gently resting on the drive when the power goes on you should feel it, if it is just laid on a table you should see it twitch slightly.

If that is not happening then the power supply is faulty or you have bad connections.

Does the drive show in Windows Explorer in the left hand pane? If not then your adapter has something wrong with it, either bad connections or the power supply. There isn't much else it can be.

Windows Explorer is the same as My Computer. Different views. Does it show up in Disk Manager?

What's the history of this drive? Did it come from a different computer? Was it working? What operating system was it running? Or was it a data drive? Any physical damage?
