hard drive failure

    one of my hard drives failed, I am using runtimes getdataback to restore what I can, but I am wondering if anyone knows why it did this...
    I figure it overheated, but I don't know.

    Abdhul,

    Are you going to RMA the drive to the manufacturer? If so, ask them to tell you wait is wrong with it. The possibilities are MANY.

    yeah, I plan to RMA it.
    the funny thing is that I just barely RMA'd it a week ago, this is the new one... funny how that goes.

    Interesting...two in a row! What exactly were the symptoms of EACH failure??? Maybe you are headed for 3 strikes?

    actually, the first one wouldn't even let my computer boot up, it had some bad bearings and who knows what else...

    I found out what happened though, it didn't over heat or anything like that - I filled it past the 127 gig mark.
    it was recognized by the BIOS, but not by windows as a 200 gig, so I installed sp1 and now everything works great.
