I keep getting message: BOOT DISK FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER. I've researched google, and other tech forum sites. I have tried setting the hard drive to the first boot device, tried booting to a win xp cd as well as a hd diag cd. I've tried booting with cd's in both optical drives. I've connected the hd to a usb to ide/sata adapter and didn't get anything. It doesn't sound like it's getting much power. It didn't come up in my computer computer. The hard drive is not showing up in the BIOS This is what the BIOS looks like:
    Primary Master [None]
    Primary Slave [None]
    Secondary Master [(s&s&s&s&s&s&s&s&]
    Secondary Slave [None]
Do you think its the ide controllers on the motherboard, the motherboard as a whole, the hd, the cables? There are no swollen or blown caps on the motherboard.

Your drive is almost certainly dead. You've done all the proper tests without results, so it's time to say farewell and buy a new one.

Is this on another machine, or the same machine?

The hard disk or the machine itself?

No devices detected could indicate Controllers, cables, Motherboard, Power Supply.

To another machine, The Hard Disk. The machine powers on fine. Actually the CDRW is being detected now. I had to unplug the DVD drive, and now the CD drive is working fine, and I can boot to a cd now. I still cant get the hd in the bios.
