I have a compaq presario 2100 running XP. Out of the blue it powered itself down. I powered back on and received the following error "Operating System not found". I then brought it up and brought up the setup. I ran the hard drive test and received "no IDE device". So I popped my recover CD in and tried to boot off of it. I also made the CD device the first avail for boot sequence. It will not boot off the CD and now I'm receiving the following message before getting the "no operating system", it's "PXE-E61 media test failure check cable". I have receded the hard drive, but disk is not turning and blue light does not come on. So, shouldn't the recover CD boot and how can I tell if the disk is bad? Any help would be great!

Check or replace the ribbon to HD, if you have more than 1 HD dis connect the 2nd one.If after you make these test check to see if HD is spinning. If you have a spare HD use that to test also
