hard drive question

    I have a compaq 5440 it has a defective Quantum Fireball CX 6.4GB AT. What can I replace this with maximum size and how ?
    Where might I find good hard dive prices ? THANK YOU MUCH

    The size most likely won't matter..unless it's a really old system. For good prices, try pricewatch.com...dealsonic.com...techbargains.com...also local stores have good deals sometimes (best buy had 40gb for $35 after rebate). just look around..or wait for good deals to roll in. as far as installation, check this link..

    Size does matter! :D

    Older BIOS's do not recognize more than 8.2(?)GB. If you get a larger, newer HDD, make sure to download a DDO (dynamic drive overlay) utility. This software overrides the Windows fdisk utility and allows larger partitions to be recognised not by the BIOS, but by the Operating System.
