I've tried everything. When booting to the Windows 98 CD to do a fresh install everything goes fine until it's formatting. It gets to 38% and just hangs. I've taken the hard drive out, put it in my other computer and formatted it FAT32 with no problem. As soon as I try to install the OS that's when the fromatting problem occurs. I've ran a scandisk and everthing looked good. Any ideas? Thanks

    Welcome to TSG.

How are you formating in the other computer?

You might want to check the drive with the manufacturers diagnostic software.

    WD
    SeaGate
    Maxtor

Why are you trying to format the drive during installation?
If the drive is already formatted you just need to install the Operating system without formatting.
