You guys helped me several times before and were successful in helping out!! I'm trying to help a friend out now. She has a toshiba laptop model number: toshiba satellite 1135-s125. Her laptop loads up with this error message:

SMART failure predicted on hard disk 0:toshibaMK3018GAS-(PM)
WARNING: immediately back-up your data and replace your hard drive
    A failure may be imminent

Does this mean the harddrive is completely corrupted or can it be repaired??
    Help would be appreciated!!

    Thanks again guys

It means that it may be failing - you need to backup data NOW!

Depending on your OS run either scanndisk or chkdisk

SMART is predictive of failures of HD's - I bet it will fail at some point

She already saved all her necessary files onto cd's. I take it the harddrive is pretty much gone? Should she just get a new harddrive installed then or can she just reformat her harddrive?

If scandisk found nothing then its time to get a new HD before it dies
