Harddrive Partitions

    Just install a 60gig hd. Getting ready to install XP pro. How many if any partitions would you set it up for. Computer will be used for surfing and gaming. Also have a spare 80gig that will be used for backup, downloads storage and etc. Tks

    XP pro
    Intel 2.5
    1 gig PC2700

    FWIW, I put all of my installed applications on C: with the O/S, my data on D:, and then I make the rest of the drive into a work disk. For my purposes, I use 12-16gigs for my boot drive, 8gigs for the data drive, and the rest of the disk for work space. I make sure stuff like My Documents is pointed to D:, as well as any data folders for installed applications.

    With this organization, I can backup C: into an image file with GHOST about once a week, and backup the data drive daily.
