im having a problem identifying what is wrong with my hp. i starting receiving a boot disc screen only. so in other words i couldnt boot up except for bios. i read around and decided i might need a new hard drive. i bought a new hard drive and i am still getting a "reboot and select proper boot device." i also got windows 7 with my hard drive thinking id need it. when i start the pc with that it starts to load windows, then once it is done it crashes (blue screen says "stop 0x0000000005c).

do i possibly need a new motherboard?

    thanks

what do you mean, you got windows 7 with your hard drive? Did you buy a hard drive that had windows preinstalled on it? Or did you purchase an install disk for w7?
