Hardware problems please help******

    I have had more problems with this other computer.
    1st of all it was working and then put AVG anti virus on it
    it wouldnt work so i took it off. then this message keeps comeing
    with pxe-m04 interrput 18h..... so i took it to the computer shop
    and then they did a reformated it and they said i just had to put
    the rest back on now. i bring it back home and i turn it on
    it says pxe-mo4 interrupt `8h.


    HELP PLEASE

    Try updating your network card.

    Apparently your bios is set to boot from a network card that's not there. You need to enter your bios and change the boot order.

    It's also possible that the bios battery is going dead and the shop did fix it, but the battery is not saving the settings.

    Gotrootdude's right. It sounds like the machine is trying to boot from the network card. In the BIOS change the sequence to remove the Network.lan out of the boot sequence. There may also be a another setting that allows the lan to be bootable - disable that too. I've seen some ECS boards where this message would simply no go away, but its not a big problem - just adds a few seconds to boot and throws up that message.

    to change my bios this is what comes up in the cinf/setup utility
    system summary, product dat, devices and i/o ports , start opitons, date and time, system security, advance setup, isa legacy resoures, power management

    which one do i go into

    Try start options and look for first boot device. Set it to c drive. Then press f10 to save the changes.

    in start options is has: keyboard number lock and speek, reset delay,diskettesless, keyboardless, power on self test, power on logos, power on f1/esc, poer on status, virus detction

    i found in pci control network adapters, disabled is that what your talking about

    also there is display adapters and they are enabled

    If you're not using a nic then be sure it is disabled. If you're not having video troubles then best let alone. Also look for something like first boot device.
