Hi I have recently formatted a computer and reinstalled windows XP home on it. It is a dell dimension 3100. I know that the drivers for these computers are on their website however the only back up disk they could find was their O/S disk. No driver CD's. I managed to install their modem drivers however from using the service tag it lists all kinds of drivers and are not sure what hardware is installed in their computer. I know that there is a program you can download to tell you exactly what drivers you need for the hardware in your computer but I am not sure what the name of it is. I used to have it on disk but I think I lent it out can anyone please help lol.

go to the dell website on another computer and get specifics for the 3100.

i had to do it for my sons 3000.

you'll need the chipset, video, sound and ethernet/nic card drivers.
i downloaded them to a usb stick and after the restore installed them.

Have you installed the chipset driver from Dell yet? If not, do that first. Many times that will solve the driver problem.

I've placed Everest Home on my web site for you to download. I've also placed an application called System Info there for you. I honestly don't think either will help, but give it a try:

Let us know how it goes.
