Rikku-----About 2 weeks ago I picked up "The Hobbit" from my bookshelf (bad move on my part) and re-read it again. Well, of course, that lead to re-reading "The Lord of the Rings". Then I'm watching television (I don't watch much) and on comes an ad for "The Lord of the Rings" movie. Could have knocked me over with a feather. I understand that whole book will be 3 movies, is that correct? Does the first movie do justice to the books?

I heard that all three of the movies are actually already finished so that they could keep the same actors through out the series.

Wicked film, highly recommended, bear in mind, to compress 3 novels into 3 films some sacrifices will have been made. In the main, the first part, the fellowship of the ring is accurate enough. I think it's fair to say that even if you have not read any of the books the film would be easy to follow.

Did you hear that someone went into a bookshop after seeing the film and asked "have they written the book yet?"

Went to see Ocean's 11. I wasn't expecting much but I have to say I was very entertained.

gbrumb,

i would say that the movie does the book much justice - in fact i think its about as good as a movie as you could hope for. Obviously, as roddy says, cuts had to be made, but the parts that are still intact are very close to the book and much of the dialogue is taken straight from Tolkien himself.

It was even better the second time!

Come on, gang. Is this all the interest we can get for this thread? Is everybody on this board locked to their computers? You guys need to get out more. Occassional sunlight is good for you. Even if it is between home and a dark movie theater.:D

I am going to see LotR as soon as it comes to our podunk little theater. I have to re-read Fellowship of the Rings first. They are great books. I hope the movies do them justice. They have all three movies done and are releasing Two Towers next Christmas and the Return of the King the Christmas after that.

I also wasn't expecting much, and was pleasantly surprised. My wife, who has an encyclopedic knowledge of movies felt it was better than the original.

A Good Movie??? NOPE! ... But my son made me take him to see a movie called "Summer Catch", because he has the hots for the lead actress, I forget her name .... I was the only one in the place over the age of 15! It was amazing how all these kids were talking on their cell phones thru the whole movie....
