When I go onto the internet using Explorer and then start up Outlook Express, it disconnects and then reconnects. Also there is an icon that says Local Area Connection (a network cable is unplugged)
It also cannot handle too many demands. It often seems as though the modem has stopped working and then it finally says the page cannot be found, then disconnects.

Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated - also if you need any info about my current setup Id be glad to supply.

    is this broadband ?

you may have dial a connection in your IE connections
untick and set to never dial a connection

    assuming not a dialup

also do you have a cable connected to the LAN ???
