I can't access shared folders that are in my desktop1 pc.

Rest of my computers are able to access it just fine....but my laptop refuses to do so.

i try "Add Network Place Wizard" and manually put my network address "\\netddos-pc\xxxxxx" and after 3 mins or so...a window pops up requesting a login information...

i didn't put any access contraints so i'm perplexed as to why it is asking login information such as username and password..

the laptop is able to surf the net just fine..it even can access NAS HDD just fine..

why can't it see a networked folder that's on my desktop?

    desktop1 has windows vista
    laptop has windows xp sp2

even then i see no problem because other desktop pcs i have are windows xp powered...

    any idea..:*(

is there a software that lets you share over the network? i'm fed up with windows buggy network sharing software..

ps: under workgroup, laptop sees the desktop1 just fine..when i click on the icon..it asks for the login info again..

the laptop (vaio-txn25) can access shared folders from windows xp installed desktop(media-center) ...but not from vista installed one..

when i go to "workgroup" section from my laptop..it shows the list of all computers that are connected to the router..

here is the list of computers i see on my network

"Media-Center" (windows xp installed) <-- desktop
"Netddos-PC" (windows vista installed) <-- desktop
"Vaio-TXN25" (windows xp installed) <-- laptop

when i click "media-center"..i see the folder that is shared on this computer..and yes i can access that folder just fine from my laptop

when i click "netddos-pc" to access shared folders on it...it prompts me with a login information..

i can access shared folders on "netddos-pc" just fine from "media-center" desktop..

    help!!!

Perhaps if you had posted in the correct forum, you would have received help

This was a NETWORKING ISSUE, not XP issue ;) Hint, hint ;)
