Alright, so here is the situation:
I have 4 computers in my house and all receive excellent wireless connections.
    (2 PCs, 2 notebooks)
I can communicate with all of them from any computer(ie. tracert, ping, remote desktop), except one. None of the computers can get any response from this PC. The PC is able to get online, use remote desktop on the others, everything. The other computers simply can't get any form of response. I have tried everything I can think of. I thought maybe there might be some interference, but how can there be if the computer is getting an excellent signal? The weird thing is that I had the other PC in that room before, and it was giving me the same problem. It wasn't until I moved it into another room that it worked fine, hence, the interference assumption.

    Router: Linksys WRT54Gv5
    OS: XP SP2 on all

    Any help would be appreciated.

Nope. Nothing. Just that PC. But on the other side of the wall, between the PC and the router there is a huge entertainment system. It can't be interference though. I can bring the laptops in that room and they work fine with remote desktop, ping, etc. (with an excellent signal)

Try to change the channel on the router?!

Since you did not mention checking the firewall, I would check that first. As you may know, XP with SP2 has the new firewall and you may not be allowing exceptions. If there is any doubt, turn it off completely and try connecting to it.

    Hope this helps.... :)

I tried disabling the firewall. Still doesn't work.
Hmmmm, wow. Never thought about changing the channel. I'll have to try that when I get back to the house. If that doesn't work, I'm just gonna try moving the PC next to the router to tell me, for sure, whether or not its an interference issue.

Failure to ping is 99.9% of the time a firewall issue. You need to identify the firewall component that is blocking the pings.

It can't be. Even when I shutdown the firewall, I still don't get a response.

I'm curious... did moving it work?

If it didn't, what security software do you use: Norton Internet Security, McAfee Security center, etc... You would have to check this kind of software that might be blocking stuff... not just the Windows firewall.

You have components of the AVG firewall still lingering in your system.
Let's try to reset the WINSOCK and stack and see if that cleans this up. Please post another HJT log after you do the following repair.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2 & Vista.

For XP, Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt.

For Vista, Start, Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

    Reboot the machine.
