    Hi!

I have a Windows XP and I've been having trouble getting the desktop/startup to work properly.

To get an idea of the problems I've been having, please read my posts on this forum as Hilbert_Cheesecake: http://flaminglips.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/977606548/m/6001004593/p/1

(As you can see, the post at the bottom of the page directed me to this site for assistance.)

At any rate, I've been trying to delete my rogue antivirus XP program. I still can't get past a bright blue screen on startup.

    Thanks a lot in advance!

    Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

    • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
    • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
    • Click on Install.
    • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
    • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
    • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
    • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
    • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
