HD is dying??

    Hi, i just notice that my 2 months old Maxtor 500GB SATA II HD is making strange noise,when loading,its loud,anyone have any idea of what happened? the noise is like geeeee geeeee ggeeeee non stop,i defrag it, it still making noise, need to send in for replacement?:confused:

    I'm no genius in this department, but it sounds like a defective drive to me. Only 2 months old? I'd get it replaced. Must still be under warranty. No sense in waiting around.

    oh do i need to erase all the stuff in the HD b4 i send it back to maxtor?
