All of a sudden the computer won't boot & won't go into safe mode. I get fatal exception error 0147:00001970. I've also gotten a number of other wacky errors one saying that their was a sudden "stack fault" and another that says himen.sys not found. When I try to boot from the floppy & reinstall windows the cd it stops at a certain point and says"restart the computer" wherein it all starts over again. What could possibly have caused the cumputer to corrupt itself like that?

I would suspect a bad memory chip in your computer.

If you have multiple sticks of memory try removing all except the minimum and see if the problem goes away, try the other sticks if it doesn't.
