I am trying to connect a Samsung Bluray player via an HDMI cable to my hp envy laptop. But the don't do anything when it's connected. I'm not able to find anything that says anything about the HDMI port. Recently I did upgrade to windows 10. But before that it still did not work. How can this be fixed?

Hello JohnPaul75, and welcome to TSG.

What were you expecting to happen? The HDMI port on a typical computer is an output only and the same goes for a basic Blu-ray player.

EDIT: From I am reading on line, some models in the Envy series do support an HDMI input. Exactly which model number do you have?

Thank you! It is a dv7. I have connected Bluray players to other laptops to watch movies on them. So naturally, i thought this one would be the same. It's that my laptop media player needs an update to play the Blu-ray movies. Where i am working at the only internet connection I have is my cell & the service is not good enough to support any type of update down loads, not even for my phone. Thank you,
JohnPaul
