Hi all,

We just bought a new Dell Inspirion 15 and we just noticed that once we plug in the headphones they do not work. It does give a message saying you have just plugged a jack into the audio.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried another pair of headphones? If they work it just means your headphones are broken, if no headphones work when plugged in to the computer, then might be the jack.

Hi, yes I tried another set and checked them on another machine to make sure they work. The thing is, this is a brand new machine out of the box about 3 days ago. Not that it could be defective, but I am hoping it is something else.

If your headphones are working, and its a prebuilt machine than most likely its the machine. Either they didnt wire the cables correctly to the front ports (usb, headphone/mic jack on the front of the machine) or theres something defective in it. If you bought it from a store like Target or Wallmart or something, I would just take it back and get a new one. If you cant get a refund, you could open it up and check the wires to see if its hooked up right

When you plug something in it usually asks what it is: headphones, speakers, Mic. and you have to select headphones for them to work
