I am on windows XP on an hp compaq d530 sff.
Have got a wireless adapter to connect so tried to connect to WiFi, type in the password and get the message
"The network password needs to be 40bits or 140bits depending on your network configuration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters."

So... What precisely do I do now please?

would appear the password is not being entered correctly
However, what security are you using on the router
WPA2 maynot work with an old adapter

do you also have XP Service Pack 3 SP3 ?
start>control panel>system - will tell you there

you would need to download it onto a pc that works and copy and install

log into the router and remove the wireless security and see if it connects when the router is set to no security for wireless as a test

if that works - then try WPA
