hello! thank you for taking time to read this thread. i accidentally installed elitebar and now popups have been, well, popping up left and right every 2 minutes or so. I tried practically everything out there: ad aware, spybot, norton anti virus, etc but they're still there.

If anyone can review my my system's log courtesy of hijackthis, that would be awesome.

Print this and boot to safe mode
    Fix these with HJT

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AdStatus Service] C:\Program Files\AdStatus Service\AdStatServ.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SheduIer] C:\WINDOWS\shch.exe /i
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [clfmon] C:\WINDOWS\clfmon.exe

    View Hidden Files
Open Windows Explorer. Go to Tools, Folder Options and click on the View tab.
Make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked.
Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".
Now click "Apply to all folders", Click "Apply" then "OK"

Delete these files – careful to the spelling

    C:\WINDOWS\shch.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\clfmon.exe (NOT CTFmon)

    Delete these folders

    C:\Program Files\AdStatus Service

    START – RUN – key in %temp% - Edit – Select all – File – Delete
    Empty the recycle bin
Boot and post a new log

Thank you so much MFDnSC for helping me. I did what you told me, although unfortunately the popups haven't gone. Also I couldn't find this file:
    C:\WINDOWS\clfmon.exe (NOT CTFmon)

I also found an elitetoolbar folder in the WINDOWS explorer should i delete that?

    Here is my new log

I am attaching a searchmiracle.zip file to this post. Download it and unzip it to your desktop.

Doubleclick on the searchmiracle.reg file to add it to the registry. Answere yes to confirm.

    Fix this with Hijack This:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [kalvsys] C:\windows\system32\kalvveg32.exe

    Restart to safe mode.

How to start your computer in safe mode

Because XP will not always show you hidden files and folders by default, Go to Start > Search and under "More advanced search options".
Make sure there is a check by "Search System Folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search system subfolders"

Next click on My Computer. Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
    Click "Apply" then "OK"

Now find and delete the C:\windows\system32\kalvveg32.exe file.

Also in safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Go to Start > Run and type %temp% in the Run box. The Temp folder will open. Click Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.

    Empty the Recycle Bin

Well I have something and its the popups and such that seem to hang out incessantly and hijack my machine. I thought I had already posted to this thread, but i dont see anything so I will resend my Hijack log.

Thanks for you time in advance.
