    Hi all,
yes I really am a dumb blonde female so please help.
Last week I stupidly altered the screen resolution but quickly changed it back to 1024x768 (yes I clicked ok) and it's been fine.
However, I turned my pc off for the first time last night and upon turning it back on this morning got the black screen saying out of rangeset monitor to 1024x768. I have managed to use the internet on my phone to find out how to get in through safe mode and have again changed the resolution to what is recommended.
PROBLEM: I got a message saying drivers needed to be installed. I clicked to install and got a message saying unable to install. I've checked the system in Device Manager and this is what I see:
Display adapters: Standard VGA graphics adapter
With this message: This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.
(When I do so there is no solution)
    Other devices: Video Controller
This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)
There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.
(When I try a message tells me to Windows cannot find this and to check with the manufacturer of the device)
I have an old Packard Bell and when I go on the website it does not list the model I have.
How will my pc be affected by not having these drivers and a having a standard VGA card.
Can anyone give a simple explanation of what to do. No jargon...an idiot's guide please.
