help for icons

    Help needed for the UK

    Still can't sort this out. Can anyone please help if they have fixed a similar problem?

    My caption buttons, check boxes, radio buttons, scroll bar buttons etc.. no longer have the correct symbols on them, on any application within windows.

    For instance, the 'close application' button, in the top right corner of the screen, has a small square, instead of a 'X'. Check boxes have a strange symbol, instead of a tick that you can check on or off.

    I'm running Windows 98se from a laptop.

    Is there an easy fix for this?
