    Go offline,

run Hijack This again, and put a checkmark next to each of the following items, close all other windows and browsers (including this one), leaving only HijackThis open, and then click "Fix Checked":

Unless you know and use the following entries, you should also fix them in Hijack This:

    O9 - Extra button: Research - {92780B25-18CC-41C8-B9BE-3C9C571A8263} - D:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~1\OFFICE11\REFIEBAR.DLL

    Then boot to Safe Mode

How to boot to Safe Mode:
    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf.docid/2001052409420406

To make your hidden files and folders visible, go to Start > Search and under "More advanced search options". Make sure there is a check next to "Search System Folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search system subfolders"

Now click on My Computer. Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the "View" tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
    Click "Apply" then "OK"

Find and delete the follwing files/folders:

    C:\Program Files\Kontiki\bin\bh304181.dll/201
    C:\WINDOWS\enhtb.dll

    Delete this folder:
    C:\Program Files\Ebates_MoeMoneyMaker

Delete files/folder from the following directories (But not the directory itself, for example delete all files/folder IN temp.
    C:\Windows\Temp\
    C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Profile>\Local Settings\Temp\
    C:\Documents and Settings\<All other users Profile>\Local Settings\Temp\
    C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Profile>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\ <<<This will delete your files in your internet cache--including cookies.
    C:\Documents and Settings\<All other users Profile>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\

    Then empty the Recycle Bin.

    Then reboot to normal mode.

now go to at least one of the following links to do an online scan and make sure to click to scan AND clean:

    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
    http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx

then go here and download AdAware SE, install it and click to search for and download the latest updates to it, and then run a scan of your computer with it, fixing everything it says:
    http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/

Then run Hijack This again and post a new log here

    Hi Wayne! Thanks for responding.

I followed your instructions - I let the PopCap entry, as I believe I know what that does. Other than that, I fixed and deleted per your instructions. I ran both A/V scans (both clean) and reran Ad-Aware, which I already have installed.

This the latest and greatest log after all of that:

Additionally, I would fix these in HijackThis:

Other than that, it looks good. Maybe I'm missing something, but it doesn't look like you have a firewall active. If not, I'd urge you to use (at least) a software one (ZoneAlarm or Sygate, both free)

    ZoneAlarm: http://www.zonelabs.com

    Sygate: http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm

following installation and configuration, go here to test your firewall:

    http://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2

I would also download and install Service Pack 2 from Microsoft, and would also urge you to go here, download, install and update SpywareBlaster (and update and run it regularly) - it will keep a lot of spyware off of your computer:

    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Other than that, I'd say you're good to go,

Hey Wayne... sorry I didn't get back to you sooner - Life intervened!

I have removed the entries you recommended per your last reply via HJT.

I am sitting behind a hardware firewall; however, I have been considering installing a s/w one anyway. Thank you very much for your recommendations.

I already have Spyblaster installed and running.

I am not "upgrading" to SP2 at this time. I've heard way too many horror stories. Just curious - why you recommend the upgrade?

Thanks again for all of your assistance - the check/donation is in the mail....

You Tech Guys rock! :D

hi Terry, Thanks for the kinds words =)

As for SP2, the general concensus seems to be that you're safer with it, and that the improved security outweighs the risks of conflicts with other programs/software, which, apparently have mostly been fixed/resolved, but there's still a bit of a risk (as there is anytime you install something).

That's another good reason to be backing up everything you care about regularly.

God bless you and happy surfing,

    Wayne
