the problem: some videos on my comp show up as a grey screen when played. I get the audio but no picture. This happens to some downloaded movies and a game or two. I have downloaded the latest divx codec and it doesnt help. Is there a setting I can change? I am running a 1.2 gig t-bird, windows ME. HELP thank you so much for any tips you can help with!

Have you tried re-installing Windows Media Player? (If that's what you're using). Failing that, you might want to try obtaining another compatible video player. I can't really recommend one, as I usually just use Real Player, Quicktime, or WMP. I'm sure if you asked around the forum, some people here could suggest something.
But if this only happens with certain videos or games, then the problem is probably with those individual files. Try downloading them again, or somehow obtaining another copy.

    Good Luck
